I picked up two or three slabs of this material several years ago, and it has made some killer freeforms. The slabs were unlabeled so I don't know what they are. I came across a good photo of this material once with a name asigned, but like a dummy, I forgot to write it down. The only good photo I have of it is this pendant I made. The rock has great translucent depth to it. The darker color seems to be on the surface and the lighter color, which looks like soft, bluish orbs is deeper below the surface. The soft orbs look like a blue version of the sub-surface orbs you see in African or calico lace agate. Anyone have any idea what this is? Vance

Vance: Darn, I know I've also seen a name on that stuff before but it has me stumped now. I know theres a similar colored tube agate out of Idaho, maybe around Arco or Challis but I just can't place your specimen....Mel

looks a little like some banded tube bullseye I have seen out of Mexico but the color is way off.

I just tried the link to make sure it worked and you have to highlight the whole address to get to the page I was referring too.

You are right desertdweller, that is one unbelievable collection of agates. He undoubtedly has been trading with aliens for specimens from other galaxies! His collection must be worth somewhere in the six figures.

Thanks a lot Jamie, I just spent an hour drooling over those very expensive agates!

Man that is a swell collection of agate specimens! Looks like he's really got Mexico and Texas covered. Lots of those varieties are new ones to me and this photography is really top notch...Mel

I know, I sat here with my jaw taped shut because it kept hitting the floor. I would love to get my hands on some of that flower bouquet plume and man some of those sagenite agates he has.........I have never seen anything like them. I want to email him and see if maybe he'd be willing to trade some of his JUNK rocks or better yet find out if he has collected his own agates and then beg him to take me there.......Blind folded of course during the middle of the night! LOL!!! Nothing wrong with daydreaming right?

I just had to laugh - on the first page of that guy's thumbnails, he has some "retaliated" quartz.
So when you try to cab it, does it retaliate? Cute typo.
free4rms, that stuff is beautiful. Hope someone can ID it for you.

Retaliated quartz is the stuff that gets thrown at you when you accidently cut someone off.
