Wow beautiful rocks roger. Can't really tell the shine from the photos. Do you dry polish by hand or a flat lap? How long does it take?

I polish them by hand. After the saw I wet grind with 80g belt on an expandable 8'' to get rid of deep marks. Then to the dry polisher a 5'' rock takes 20-30 min start to finsh.

You might want to try dry sanding on the 80 grit belt. It goes much faster than wet sanding. Wear a dust mask, though. You can do these in about 15 minutes by dry sanding. As long as the piece is about 2" and larger there is enough mass to absorb the heat of dry sanding without damaging the piece. Check frequently for heat buildup, though. I also use the 8" expandable drums almost exclusively for this and routine cabbing. Bob
