I am getting ready to contact the Lortone Company but wanted to get suggestions to make sure I have covered all bases. I got a new Lortone, dual 3 lb tumblers in August. It has been running in the same location with similar rocks since I got it. I went out a few days ago and it sounded different. Sure enough, it had slowed down. I have checked the belts, double checked the barrels, even lightened the loads and it will only run normal with one barrel. As soon as I put the second barrel on it slows down.
Anything I should be doing on my end, or is it a bad motor? Thanks.

It sounds like a bad motor. You my have overloaded the barrels and burned it out. Return it and get a Tumblers Tumbler.

I have had to lubricate the nylon bushings on my Loretone several times. I routinely load heavy and it does slow down. The lubrication helps. I use Lithium grease in a spray bottle.

My dual 6lber does that every so often...i've noticed its because of the way the motor gets mounted on the framing. It is on a slight angle to keep the belt tight without causing it to snap. I use a special gearing lube called White Lightning which is supposedly one of the top lubing oils for any type of bushell/bearing (how true that is I'm not sure) it works great for me though. Also sometimes the motor is a bit tempermental...meaning some days it likes to run hot...some days it runs cold...so you might wish to check where you are storing the unit...meaning is it in a cold area or a hot area...I have used a small fan to cool it once or twice when it bogged down. This keeps the motor from burning out.

I found that if I raised the side with the non-drive rod, it would keep running better. This was on a 3LB single barrel Lortone. I noticed when I recently ordered a triple barrel 1-1/2 lb. each Lortone, the rods are staggered in height -- in other words, it's built to operate the way I rigged up my single barrel when it kept getting stuck. I also noticed that the non-drive shaft seemed to be hanging up and oiled them again, moving it around till it seemed to be moving freely. Now no problems recently. Good Luck!
