I also went to the Hayward, CA show last weekend and had a blast. We only had a few hours and I had to stop and chat with everyone. The dealers and club members were all very nice and helpful. This was easily one of the best shows I have ever been to, and I didn't even get to see the whole thing! My wife had a great time too. Here's what we got. Thanks for looking,
Steve
Ocean Jasper sphere, blue quartz, jade bracelets, cool fluorite shape my wife got, amethyst stalctite cross section and itty bitty tourmaline crystal.
I basically went nuts at the slab tables. Carnelian, lace agate, unlknown agate (brazilian?), Green tree agate (moss), Another brazialian-ish agate, graveyard plume and blue lace agate:
Very purple burro creek agate (right), brecciated jasper, unknown agate(lower second from left), 3 unusual banded agates, a cool cathedral agate, and two little botswana dudes
I have been going through a moss agate phase, so it didn't help that one of the slab tables had some really nice ones. Then they brought out a milk-crate of them, and, well, you can imagine what happened:
More moss!
The same booth had some amazing Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper. They were expensive but out of this world. They were big too. I found a smaller one that wanted to some home. It's about 3.5 by 4.5 inches and looks about 10 times better in person.
Jade chip beads for Mrs Rocklicker. She is into gem trees and I can't wait to she what she makes of these. They are from Jadecarver (Dave) and I had a chance to chat with him a while. He had a nice selection of his kick-ass diamond wheels. I almost got an 80 grit one but my existing jadecarver wheel is still going strong so I can wait. He's got a 50 grit one now. I can't imagine the poor rock that gets near one of those. Also in the photo is a chrysoprase for a coworker and rock buddy.
