I cut up a slab of Brazilian agate into teardrops. Most exploit the bands and avoid the crystal center. But I thought I saw a flower and cut one part with crystal. Do you think flower? I have polished one side on a leather wheel with AO after sanding to 1200, but the crystal is soft and keeps undercutting. I plan to drop the stone into the next medium grind, then pre-polish, and polish. I really do like tumble finished stones best anyway. A little more undercutting might just add an attractive 3-D effect. We will see what we get! Can't decise if this will be pinch-bail, top drilled, or sent for wire wrap.

Oh that is beautiful ! I see the inside of a Bird of Paradise, with that big central stamin, or maybe an Easter Lilly.

Easter Lily is what i thought too (even before i read polished's message. i'm partial to top drilled, but sometimes you can lose the cab.....i'd go with an elegant but simple wire wrap in gold.

I was thinking easter lilly. If the polish had turned out better I would have made a seasonal preent for my mom. I am leaving tomorrow to go visit them in New Orleans. Would have been nice. I guess I'll bring a nice bottle of port wine instead.
So pinch-bail with leaf designs, or top drilled with double loop?

Very nice. Colors are a bit off...but it reminds me of a Georgia O'keefe painting.

If it was me, I wouldn't even want a bail covering the top of that, I'd drill.

Beautiful cab. I wouldn't use the pinch-bail with the leaf on this one (but I do like those bails). For this cab, I think it would detract from the design in the stone.
Lovely!

I see it; and what a beauty it is. Great job. I am thinking a nice wrap would look best too; someone could do make some cool effects with the wire to tye into the flower.

Yes, if the wrap coul mimic the flow lines w/o covering them. Still, leaning towards top drilling.

I'd agree on drilling that one, or having it actually bezel set. I don't think that "traditional" wrapping would add to the stone, no matter how you wrap it. I mean, I can see a couple different ways to wrap that particular stone, but in the end, it doesn't add to the image in any way. It doesn't necessarily detract from the image, but it also doesn't enhance the beauty of it...which is what I see as the point of wrapping.
Actually - you could groove wrap it though, like Adrian's doing. It would use minimal wire and definitely not detract from the stone. I don't know which I'd fear more though, a drill possibly hurting the stone or a blade!

I pas on the groove wrap for this one. I already have rounded sides on it. That is on my list of things to try though.
I'll make the final choice after I finish the polish.

such a beautiful stone, I would make a miniature easel and set it on a pediestal in the kitchen window. It is just beautiful.
