Scott, I am having a senior moment - - - did I not send you a complete set of instructions for the lap made by Jack Lahr? If not, I can mail you a copy and it shows how to cut the girdle facets. Let me know. Jim

No I never did get the instructions from you but don't bother sending it, just give me the reader digest version of what it says on girdle facets. The problem might just be my lap too, if I had more space between the disk and the bucket I would be able to do them. Just can't fit the head in there. More than anything I was just wondering if there was another piece?

Scott, You must be able to put the dop, with stone attached, in the horizontal and make contact with the lap at the girdle. Jim

Thats kind of what I thought. Might have to take my lap back to the manufacturer and complain about the design flaw. Oh wait thats me... Bigger bucket maybe.

Scott, I just remembered an item in the October 2007 issue of "Jewelry Artist" regarding a club in British Columbia that is deep into hand faceting. Perhaps you can find a way to review the article under "Ask the Experts" in the referenced issue or you may be able to contact Peter Dawson of the Sidney Lapidary Group in Victoria, BC. He is the person that submitted the article and photo of their hand faceter. Jim
