Oh wow, Brad...those are fantastic! I LOVE the old craggy look each of them has, and I agree with you. Doing any dramatic to these would only have detracted from their natural beauty.

I agree - I love the rough wood look to them. Were the outer sections naturally polished, or were you able to work them a little to get a layer of polish on it?

I did nothing to any of the surfaces other than the saw cuts. I didn't even need to wash them.

Wow, the first piece is one of a kind! A real beauty! And you're right, it's beautiful as it is now. I also keep many pet woods in their natural state. Sometimes I polish their natural surface (not all) and the contrast between the natural look and the polished area makes them more interesting. But this wood has a very rough surface, hard to smooth and polish it. Maybe I'd try to polish something in the right side of the wood (as I look in the photo), the material seems to be more compact there. But, as I said before, it's beautiful as it is, too.

Those don't even look petrified. They look like regular wood. They look good after the polish too.
