I spent most of the money I had with me at one booth, The Agate Gallery, from Prescott Valley AZ. These folks are here every year and always have really nice(and pricey) material. The club usually has tables of slabs and pre-bagged rocks but either they sold them all before I made it there or it just didn't happen this year. Anyway, here's what I got this year. A small chunk of South American Black Opal. Couldn't resist this slab of poppy jasper. They had some awesome red horn coral, the small ones were 2/$5 and the large ones were $5 ea. Then there was the grand prize(to me anyway), Carey Mt. Plume agates. I'm always on the search for this stuff and I usually only find small vuggy slabs, so when I saw these...... backlit. I went over and met Dean and sat down behind his booth and went through his containers of slabs and he was nice enough to give me these. Thanks Dean. Then there was jadecarver where I got a new 220 wheel, some 50k paste, yes, I'm almost out of it after 3 years and giving half the tube away, and he had something new, diamond sandpaper. He said it's used in the optical industry. The sheet is about 3" x 12" and feels like about 120g, great for flattening out backs of cabs. One more stop on my way out and I found some small slabs and this chunk of Graveyard Plume. They only took cash or checks or I would have gotten a lot more!

Agate gallery is where I got my Kazakhstan tree. They always have a good selection of high quality cabbing material. They said they will be back in the Bay Area in September for a show. We got to discussing about how long we have been doing lapidary. I've got him beat. I started in 1958, he started in 1959.

Great pictures there Ed. I'm curious to know if there are opinions about what the purple/amethyst-like piece is that you got from me. It was sooooo small.
