Did the family vacation thing to Arizona during my daughter's spring break the first week of April. Focus was on the family, not rocks, but hey, whatcha gonna do when a rock shop jumps up and kicks you in the face? ;D. Picked up some stuff from this rock shop in Globe, AZ (forget the specific name of the shop). Crap, good prices when you are in the midst... Arizona petwood, tumbling size, $0.75 per pound; moss agate, $1/lb, etc. I picked up this Mexican crazy lace for $3/lb, plus this unknown thingamabob for $1/lb, which I'm wondering if it is peanut obsidian, but any other guesses are more than welcome... -Don

Fishenman, thanks for that link, yep, definitely peanut obsidian then.
KD, heh, heh, I knew a pic of lace might grab your attention. ;D

That is a good grade of lace. It's been hard to find stuff that nice.

The one on the right looks almost exactly like Missouri blue lace agate. The tell is a fine red line in the banding which I can't see in the photo, but if you can see it in there it is likely from here! Old timers have told me that Mexican guys used to come up here & take back truckloads of our rock. Supposedly, at one time almost all of the so-called Mexican lace that you saw actually came from here. Urban legend or fun fact to know and tell? Beautiful stuff, BTW!

Thanks again, Yes I like this Mexican lace too. I picked through the entire bin in the store and came out with these 4 pieces as being the 4 best. That's what I like about a rock shop (and there are no real "rock shops" around here, so I hit them while on vacation in the US), you can pick through stuff and hi-grade to your heart's content. Damn, the person who visited before me must have got even better stuff... ;D Pup, I've seen the red-line in pics of your stuff before, and I don't see that in this stuff, so I think it's real Mexican lace, not Missouri. But if both are quality lace, where it comes from seems a bit of a moot point. -Don
