Hi all,
I always love to see everyone's posts of all the nice finds that they make, but I have never posted anything myself. I haven't been able to get out collecting much this last year due to being too busy with too little free time or money, but I did manage to get out for a day a few weeks ago to a great agate location that is close by where I live. I have been collecting in this area for many years & still always find plenty of new & beautiful material every time I go. It is an incredible location with every color of agate that you can imagine - from reds & yellows to blue, green, & lavender. Also, there is pretty much any type of agate that you'd ever want to find - banded, tube, moss, plume, sagenite, & combinations of all of the above. I consider myself a very lucky rockhound to live where I do, & to be able to find the quality of material that I'm able to collect.
Anyway, here are some photos from my last trip. I'm not normally a plume collector, but I found some pretty good black, red, & gold plume, so I included some pictures of slabs of those. Most of the material is vein material ranging in size from about 8" long to about 3". My camera skills aren't the best, so forgive me if they're a little blurry. There's about 10 pictures, so be patient & I hope that you enjoy seeing them as much as I did when I found them.
Large piece of vein with moss, fortification, ect. 8" across.
Another large piece of vein. 9" across.
Black & red Plume slab.
Large Red Plume - I tried to backlight it, but a little hard to see. 6" across.
Gold plume on the left side.
Slab with Black & Red Plume.
Gold Plume on the right.
