Ok, so my av is some of the rocks I've found since moving back to Washington state. Here are a few more. They are all in buckets, so you can't see ALL of what I have in there. I don't know what they are... Maybe I should have studied geology instead of Accounting. I went to the beach today and those rocks just kept calling to me... I think I brought back 15-20 more pounds... ;D

Some pretty colors in there. Isn't it amazing the way rocks can just follow you home. ;D

Polish/shine will mostly depend onthe hardness. You can get a quartz point or other known hardness and do scratch tests. Even softer stuff could be tumbled to improve shape, and then perhaps displayed wet - like in a fish tank.

Looks like you've been picking up quite a variety there, nice!

Cher- I love how the rocks follow me home, but sometimes I wonder if they are multiplying in the buckets when I'm not looking... ;D deb193redux- Most of the rocks I find on the beach polish really well, but there are a few that won't shine. I just need to find/create a place to put my tumbler so I can get back to tumbling rocks again. beefjello- Yes, quite the variety. The beach that I go to offers up such a wide selection. I'm not looking for anything in particular, I just pick up the ones I happen to like at the time. My mom, the person who introduced me to rock tumbling, offered to tumble some of my rocks since she has been working on other interests, so doesn't have anything to tumble lately. Looking at the photos, shows me a few months worth of ideas.
