Howdy folks, Here are a few pics of todays stuff minus the tinies I use for filler. Mostly Mojave Desert Jasper, Bubblegums, bloodstone and misc agate types. Thanks for looking....mel Few of my favorites. Bloodstone and an really nice piece of Flint Ridge flint: Some of the prettier hunks of jasper from the Mojave:

Fantastic, as always. Love the close-ups. Some of those jaspers look like they're trying pretty hard to be plume agates. -Don

snivlem, Boy that's hard to actually say. I grind the stone in coarse till I'm happy with the shapes. These started off real angular and probably took at least 2-3 months in 60/90 grind with grit recharges every 7 days, I then do two weeks in 110/220, two weeks in tripoli, and two more in Rockshed AO followed by a one day Dreft burnish to clean them up. I have dedicated barrels for each stage. For me, the coarse step is the most critical. Well rounded and smoothed stones of like hardness make it much easier to achieve a glassy polish. If they don't have smooth silky shapes after coarse grind, the rest the steps are pretty much a waste of time....Mel

WOW, KILLER SHINE! Nice batch, really makes me want to get my 33B going again so I can actually FINISH a batch instead of just rough grinding stones in the 3A.

Truly marvelous, Mel! When you mention Flint Ridge flint, I am assuming that it is from Flint Ridge, OH? We are heading over there Saturday for a dig. I am really jazzed if that's what I can expect! ;D ;D

Unusual flint with sorta dendrites. I stillhave not really tumbled or cabbed any of the flintridgeflint I picked up. It is near the top of my rainy day list though.
