Here's a few things I've been doing with my other passion, playing with wood. First is a coffee table that I refinished for some newly found friends. When I got it, the finish was old and dark, but I knew there was some awesome grain under the finish. Here it is once the finish was stripped. And a few shots after I stained and finished it. They liked it so much, they are now having me do the 2 end tables. In this other project, this one I did at work, a man was bringing a chair to the upholester and it fell off the back of his truck. He brought it in with both feet broken off the back legs and some of the detail at the top of the legs was ground off from when the chair skidded along the pavement. One of the feet just needed to be glued back on and some detail rebuilt, but the other one was missing, so I had to glue a block of wood on to the leg and carve out a matching foot. Here are the results. Original foot replacement foot. Almost good as new!

Hey Ed, Nice refinish job. I disagree, I think the new foot looks more original than the old foot.

That coffee table is an example of what real wood can look like. I love it.

Thanks. I did the foot replacement at work and the guy I work for did the touch ups on the finish. The table was done here at home. It originally was done at work but my boss screwed it up by staining the whole top a really dark Cherry color. When I delivered it to the people, they were not thrilled with what he had done, so she called him to complain and he was being a jerk about it(he has those days!) so I decided to come back after hours and pick up the table and do it right for them. They were most appreciative and insisted on paying me for my work, even though they had already paid the guy I work for. Anyway, they are happy and gave me the end tables to do now, so I'm happy too! The wood on the table is a crotch mahogany veneer in the center and bordered with Phillipine mahogany and Honduras mahogany on the outside edge. Oh, yes KD, you can and I have cabbed wood!!! What size is your foot?

Beautiful work Ed. There's a spectacular spiral staircase at a church in Santa Fe. Hmmm, were you the one?

Wow, I had no idea wood could have such wild patterns! But.... did you tell the folks yet that you used some of your pet. wood collection to carve the replacement foot?.... -Don

Hey, you are at least as good in wood working as you are in cabbing! Have you ever thought to combine those two skills (some wood with stone intarsia)?

You did a great job on that table as well as the chair. My dad loves working with wood. Tami
