;D If any of you remembered me posting pictures of the hike on January 1..this year...we went up today to get more of the old Fairbanks Morse engine. So far...my buddy has everything down except the 2 flywheels. These buggers weigh around 300 lbs each. They are solid steel...SOLID!!! We were able to retrieve one of them today...one more to go!!! The only way to bring them down is with a deer carrier. It worked very well. Here's a pic of my friend on the home stretch. And....I decided to do a little digging where I had found a few bottles before. Well.....LO and Behold....I think I found a Winner! If anyone knows anything about bottles...please chime in on this thread. I have googled and tried to find any info...but to no avail. Maybe I found a real treasure. Thanks for letting me post stuff other than rocks. One more thing...I haven't even done a cab yet! I must be Slacking ;D ;D Steve

When I look something like that up and can't find any info, I know it's either not worth spit or is rare. Here's hoping you got a rare one!

Yes, here's hoping it's rare! Does this help? www.pre-pro.com/midacore/view_vendor.php?vid=ORD6433Here is the description of the database: " This page links you to a repository of information on the distillers and wholesalers who made a living from the liquor industry in the years leading up to Prohibition. "The database was constructed from information gleaned from city business directories, circa 1870 to 1920. "You can search of the database for a name of interest using the form below, or you browse a series of static listing pages organized by city. Click on the alphabetized links to view the pages, then follow the links to individual vendor listing pages." I'll keep searching! OK, here is a huge page that provides detailed descriptions on the many types of bottles that exist.... one image was provided by Garth Ziegenhagen... www.sha.org/bottle/liquor.htmBTW -- Love that last pic - did you notice your shadow on the grass? Good job, akansan! Great minds think alike.... Steve, you've really got to look at www.sha.org/bottleIt's the "Historic Glass Bottle Identification and Information Website" Their goal is to help people determine the age of their bottle and the type. Really cool site! Amy

Wow! Thanks Amy and Akansan. I am excited to search the bottle even more. I did have a gentleman e-mail me after posting it on several bottle forums. here's what I was told. This is a beer/soda, it dates from the time period you stated. This is one of the harder Chicago beers to get. I have close to 2,000 different Chiago area blob beers and know of about 6 bottlers/brewery bottles I don't have. .Next to mine this is only the 4 th one I've heard of. I would say it is worth 40.00 at least. But Chiacago guy's are cheap. Still I know I bid 200.00 on one I didn't have and still did not win it. Good Luck, So....I think I found a winner! This is probably one of my best, most valuable finds...not counting my opium bottle with the goods still inside. Street value for that one probably would top the 200.00! Thanks agian for the help. Steve

Discovery channel has a show called "Cash and Treasures" ... I've recorded all episodes and one of them was about finding old bottles ... the most expensive one they found was a deep blue color and it was estimated to sell for $35 bucks. Good luck. Phil
