I got these out of the vibe a couple of days ago. I wanted to do a batch that was all softer stones but ended up adding some agate to fill it up. Whole Batch Obsidian- Polished alright but not as nice as the agate. Probably would have done better by itself. Gold Sheen This one was either an Apache tear or a piece of float that came out with a nice bullseye. Saddle Mountain Wood Various opal/opalite that mostly fell apart Labradorite- The labradorite undercut horribly, I might have ruined a couple of pieces but I think most of it can be recut. Carnelian Thanks for looking

Nich batch ,
Good to see your mistakes as well as your sucesses Ithink that is how we learn .
I ran Obsidian with my last lot and it came out great (in the vibe)
You say Opal /Opalite fell apart this could be the cause of the Obsidian not to glossy
I had 6 Amythysts 3 batches ago that shattered in the final wash/burnish and the did in my Obsidian BUT the Agates were OK as they are harder on the Mohs scale
I have great difficultie also with the softer stones, in fact Im going to run a softer batch just on its own from say 600g and see if I can get a good gloss with maybe a TO polish
Im sure others will give there opions
Thanks again

They turned out great. I love tumbling obsidian, it always turns out so beautiful. Tami

That is a pretty nice batch. That Obsidian sure has some strange characteristics! You did a fantastic job on the Carnelian. Steve

Nice, I especially like your one stone that looks like mahogany obsidian. That and labadorite are a few of my favorite stones.

wow, shame about the labradorite! i'm surprised you got a shine at all on that obsidian mixed in with the carnelian. i'd seperate them next time and save them for a do-over batch.
