I finally made it to the Snyder Pow Wow in Northern Calif last Sunday, and I have to say I was impressed by the number of vendors selling rough rock and slabs. I was told this year wasn't as good as previous years, but I thought it was pretty nice. My wife and I strolled around for about 4 hours, ate lunch and noticed a dead rat on the ground. Fortunately I saw it and not my wife! Anyway, I managed to spend some money on some rough rock, but mostly slabs. I got a bunch of one cab slabs and some larger ones for anywhere from $.25 to $1.00, some nice picture jaspers, and some graveyard plume. Nice chunk of Dino bone A chunk of yellow poppy jasper from the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge, a little town called Sausalito. Here's a couple of Biggs slabs. Some OJ Graveyard/Regency Rose Huge slab of dendritic rhyolite Unknown, but nice Some nice Owyhee and Wingate pass plume These next ones are the cheap slabs And I bought some nice Butterfly jasper nodules. I've cut some of them up in this pic. And I posted a cab I cut from one of these in the cab section. Next year I'll try to go earlier and maybe spend the night. And bring more money!!!

the oj and everything else is outstanding, but for me, that dino bone takes the cake!

I always like to see butterfly.

Sweeet buys Stoner! I can't wait to see the cabs you find in all that material. I really like the 3rd Biggs down. It looks like a Volcano which has just errupted and it's spewing out smoke with a nice lava flow down the side. The OJ looks good...as do those Butterfly nodules. Steve

This year the slabs/rough for sale was easily twice as much as I'm used to seeing. Visitor traffic was quite a bit lower than previous years.

Stoner, Would love to get a small slab of the yellow poppy jasper from Sausalito. I used to hang out at the No Name Bar and Zac's Bar and Restaurant back in the late 60's when I was stationed in No. Calif. Let me know cost and shipping to Washington state if interested. 49er

You left coasters make me sick. Your cheap slabs are nicer than anything I have ever found out east. LOL Nice finds, I see a lot of beautiful cabs heading our way.

Nice scores Sensei Stoner! Looks like you got a hold of some primo OJ, and that Dendritic Rhyolite is OUTRAGEOUS!!! Hey you've made me wonder with that Golden Gate poppy.. do people dive for poppy jasper in that area like Tony does for his Jade? Hmmm...

That's a fun show if it doesn't rain. I heard this was the last year as Betty Snyder was too old, her husband passed away, and the kids are not interested in the show.

The show will go on! The local newspaper had an article on the show and it stated that Betty is retiring but her kids will keep it up and running. They will probably discontinue the field trip to dig for the plume due to lack of interest. They have to keep it going! I bought a house in Valley Springs and am retiring there in a few weeks. I've been going to the show for 25 years and I would really miss it if it closed. It is also a significant fundraiser for the local area. Bob
