I went to pick up my daughters at daycare yesterday, and my oldest handed me a sandwich bag wrapped in a grocery bag, then told me that one of the ladies who's last day there gave me rocks to polish. I didn't think anything of it, figured it was rocks from the playground, kind of an ugly yellowish quartz type stone that i've had them collect for me when i need filler ;D. when i got home my daughter said, lets look at the rocks, I was blown away, these are NOT playground rocks I've only been able to identify rose quartz, white quartz, leopardskin jasper, tiger eye, and there is some sort of plume agate in there, anyone know what the green stuff up front is? alex

might be chrysoprase (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysoprase) or adventurine? looks like you have some purple looking stuff, too...perhaps amethyst?
always nice to get free rock!

Looks like someone tried to tumble and decided they didn't have the patience! And yeah, I'd guess aventurine for the green as well.
Is the stuff at about 10:00 blue or black?

Lighter green up front may be preidot? Any way you slice it, you got a kick-ass looking grab bag of rocks to tumble now! ;D

It looks to me like you have several similar-looking-yet-different stones there. I see Chrysprase, Lemon Chrysoprase, what looks to be Amazonite, and possibly a few pieces of Chrysocolla. The whole batch looks like nice stuff, carefully selected, and I'd agree that most of it is a tumbled batch which the person didn't know how to finish, but then they threw some rough jasper/agate in after the fact. You should sort it out, finish the already rough-tumbled batch, then throw the rough pieces in with some more rocks to start a new batch.
