Of course, stones are the only reason why I am making jewellery, at all. I wasn't posting much lately, but I was lurking :-). I didn't have much time since I am in final phase of my doctoral thesis (although that period is going to last for a while), also we had tonsils surgery of our younger daughter and so many other things to do. I managed to do some cabochon cutting and silver smithing (unfortunately no time for faceting :-(). Here they are: Turitella agate Black Jade and Ruby Ruby ring Same ring from another angle Lapis Chrysoprase Fluorite Thanks for looking. Zoran

Thanks, Kislany. Yes, Zagreb is beautiful city. They have some kind of a rock fair, was it the reason for your visit to Zagreb?

You already have the doctor's degree in jewelry! Good luck with the other thesis! Waiting longer and longer doesn't help, there's always something to add/complete/update The ruby + black jade pendant is my favorite, it looks so ancient and so elegant! It would make a matching set with the ruby ring, which is also a beauty. Adrian

No, I was not into rocks back then. It was for business purposes (company I was working at previously sent me, as I was a software trainer at that time). Was there almost a week, was really nice. Thanks, Kislany. Yes, Zagreb is beautiful city. They have some kind of a rock fair, was it the reason for your visit to Zagreb?

Man! Zoran, your silverwork is looking fantastic!
Seeing those might just inspire me to finish up the last cast pieces I started last spring, simply beautiful stuff you have there!

You can tell me: you photoshopped the glare from the light into that turritella didn't you? I've never, NEVER seen that stuff shine up like that!
I do very much like the black jade & ruby but I'm biased for purple so the fluorite gets my vote - the turritella is a close second - it looks like a little open mouth there

Well, I love turitella, it's so fun and each piece is unique, but.... I really, really love the black jade and ruby! Wowers, and you did an amazing job on each and every piece!

There is no way that I could pick a favorite. That's some of the finest handmade jewelry I've ever seen, and I've seen a LOT. Exquisite work!

Thank you all, very much.
Hey, neighbor, I do love ancient jewellery. Also like silver smithing to emphasize a stone not metal. Looks to me that they did their jewelery that way back then. Maybe being a geologist makes it normal to be also a bit ancient. For as a million years is young. ;D And, Adrian I'll try to post more in future, it is not a promise but I'll try. Too bad that Mutu missed that penalty against Italy, tonight. ;D
Rallyrocks, I am glad that I inspired you to finish your work. That is what RTH is all about. In fact, you could see all of my genesis as a lapidarist and silversmith here through my posts. RTH have lots to do with it. I joined this forum on September 2005 just as I started to make my first cabs. RTH is made of fabulous people, who inspired me with their work, generosity and their willingness to help. I am glad if I managed to contribute a bit. Tweet, no it wasn't photoshop. Honestly. ;D , No really, That was my first turitella (thanks to KD), and it is pretty easy to work with. Maybe it was a good piece, strongly silicified. Gemni, my thesis is about geological and mineragenetic characteristics and potentiality of gem mineral resources of Letze volcanic complex (South Serbia). Zoran

I like the shell agate too. Great freeform shape. Do you design these settings before or after you cut the stone?

Zoran, don't put salt on my wounds! I'm not a big football (soccer) fan, but still watch the European Championship. He has to be forgiven, as he scored the only goal of our team. Lucky you, to have such a thesis subject, which matches so well your hobby. Come on, finish your thesis and maybe you'll have time to do some rockhounding together, either at me or at you (or both maybe? ) Adrian

All of your pieces are beautiful - why on Earth are you getting a doctorate in something else when you could be making & selling your jewelry???!!!!
