Hello, all, I received today my prize for my knife that I posted on Stoneageindustries. I simply couldn't limit to the prize amount and i had to spend some extra bucks on some great slabs. Here's my choice: Here are the ID's from top left to bottom right: Rocky Butte Jasper, Antelope Jasper, two Heliotropes, Deschutes Jasper, Bruneau Jasper, Australian Prinstone jasper and Idaho Plume. They look great in real, much better than in my pic. The Deschutes was my main acquisition, I like the cave pattern and I'm gonna keep it in one piece, I'll only polish it. Daniel helped me to chose some other great slabs: the Bruneau and the Idaho plume. Thanks Daniel, you were right about them! Thanks for looking, Adrian

Nice choices Adrian! I do like that Bruneau and the Deschutes. What exactly is the difference between Deschutes and Biggs> Anyone?? I thought of Biggs immediately but then read on. Steve

I think biggs has more lighter areas and often comes in larger chunks

I would have said Biggs too, but Stone Age industries should know their stuff. Obviously very similar to Biggs.
At any rate, great reward and score on some excellent slabs.

Just that piece of Bruneau must have busted your prize allocation!

Those look like huge honkin pieces!

Thanks everyone.
Tweet, you have a very good sense of prices: that Bruneau almost "ate" my prize, but not completely. It costed 30 and my prize was 50. About the sizes, they are not so big; my fault I didn't place any object for scaling, but I can tell you the height of the Bruneau slab is 3 inches. Isn't Heliotrope and Bloodstone the same thing?
Daniel, thanks for the more detailed ID.

Wise choices Adrian...the Bruneau and Deschutes are becoming increasingly more rare and expensive...I do believe Heliotrope and Bloodstone to be the same!!

www.woodrecords.com/biggsjasper/HISTORY_OF_BIGGS_JASPER?cart=435e485bed7fFor anyone that's interested in learning more about Biggs and Deschutes jasper, please follow this link that one of our own members (Dales Rhodes) has written on the subject. It's sooo very obvious the love & respect Dale has not only for the rock itself but also for the "old timers" that brought it out for all of us to enjoy. It's a very down to earth article and I'm very jealous of the knowledge Dale was able to weasle out of these men & women! LOL On top of that!...Ya GOTTA love a story with people's names in it like "Hoot" & "Shirt". Way to go Dale!

Thanks Liz! What an excellent and very well writen article. It was definitley written from the HEART! I felt like I could picture the whole Biggs rush and the amazing amount of Biggs that was mined out of the area...and still is; I suppose. Thanks Dale for keeping the History Alive. Steve
