Me and the little woman went to see some friends they live in a place called Blaengwynfi, thats by the by, on the way back we took a bit of a detour, went to a place called Llantwit Major, it's on the coast near Cardiff, just for a bit of a walk really. What I was looking for was a rock with holes worn in it deep enough to hold my dop sticks, so I'm turning them over when I come across this one. Behold the Mighty Ammonite. Click a pic for a greatly enhanced viewing experience. I've never found one before, still didn't get the rock to hold my dopsticks. Herself spotted this one which I then had to carry half a mile back to the car. It appears to be a solid mass of small fossils. Just have to cut it up! I put place names in so that if you have google earth you can look them up. Thanks for looking. Simon

Nice find! There's a small fossil bed exposed to the sea not far from where I live but I bet that was a real surprise if you weren't expecting to see any fossils there!
