Wow, what fun! I went to my first rock show, and I have pics. Hope this works here, was not sure where exactly to post them all! Here's my story, and I am sticking to it! They had some wonderful fossil displays. They had some amazing jewelry displays! I met Alex and his girls. What a guy, he gave me a whole box of rocks and candles and cabs, and I was only able to give him 2 chunks of rough. Check out his website, his candles are wonderful! I was intrigued by this display. Well, I had an hour and a half the first day, and then I had to leave and give up the Edge so my boys could golf. Matt was bored! I traded cars with my older son, Phil. Phil had a good time with the "sticky rocks", hematite. My sister met me back at the rock show, bless her heart! We saw more displays, and probably spent too much $$. This was a fun display, with knives made of bone and stone. I bought a few things: Then we went out for margaritas and met many family members at a restaurant, for more margaritas, good food and fun. We brought the hematite...well, that was the life of the party, LOL! What a fun time!

I gotta say the same thing as Daniel: the bird's eye stands out! The only thing greater than that bird's eye seems to be the fun you had.
Adrian
PS. Cool fossils! PPS. Even cooler knapped knives. It's mahogany obsidian, ain't it?

Karen, It was great meeting you and your family, Love the t-shirt!!!! Glad to hear you like the votives. The show was pretty cool, I didn't take any pics, i was too busy drooling. I didn't pick up much at the show myself. Most of the rough or slabs I saw was pricey, and i still somehow blew through 100 bucks! I really liked looking at all the finished stuff though, the wire wraps I saw were inspirational, as well as the guy in the HD shirt and his cabs. Beautiful stuff!

I had a blast, thanks for looking. I did drag my guys back for a little while on Sunday; it cost me $20 to feed them (they were done looking much sooner) and another $30 to crack some geodes, haha. Blew my budget, thank goodness I had that emergency cash stashed in my wallet. I will post more pix, and thanks for IDing the birds eye rhyolite; I had no clue what it was, but it is cool! As far as cutting it, Daniel, I think I may ship it to someone w/more expertise to have them cab it for me; anybody interested? I have more slabs that need ID; I was intrigued by the 2 on the left, purchased from 2 different vendors. They are called Sunburst Wood and are, I guess, pet wood. Oh yeah, I learned that my taste in rocks has become more expensive, LOL. A bit more discerning now, I guess. I did turn down the amazing $25 slab of.... I forget the name, but it was green with black splotches, very very cool! And I didn't buy any jewelry; almost, but did not.
And I bought some big chunks of rough in Ogallala at the pet wood museum. I thought I was lucky to find some pix jasper and other neat things, as well as more pet wood. Thanks!

That's wood on the left? Here I was thinking they were GIANT slabs of Montana. After seeing the Victoria stone there, I really wished I would have gone after all. Unfortunately, my vacation the previous week blew my vacation and emergency budget.

Wow, that was your first rock show? It sure looks like it was a good one & you got some nice material. Rock shows really are lots of fun, although a little costly sometimes! ;D

See, now it still looks like Montana Moss agate to me. How strange.

Well, I wondered; I couldn't see how it could be wood, but what do I know? I did specifically ask if it was pet wood, they said yes??? I would be OK w/Montana Moss, too, LOL. Either way, I thought it was neat.

Oh, it's neat all right!
Strange, though that two different vendors were selling it as the same thing...
