This piece is all about the wire and very little about the stone even though I did cab the stone. It is one of those love it or hate it pieces. I wouldn't wear it but it was fun to do and I learned a lot The smaller stone is turquoise the larger brighter stone is African "turquoise" jasper

Pure perfection, especially the lower part - the big cab and its frame are both gorgeous. The upper cab is a bit "drowned" in wire according to my taste, but the wrapping work is beautiful here, too.

It kind of says to me as I look first at the little one peeking out of the wire a preview of what is to come and "Wham!" that gorgeous one on the bottom. Beautiful wrapping and I think it important not just to create with your own taste all the time. It would tend to box one in. It is a beautiful pendant.

That's a neat first try. Even with dead soft wire I get those kinks too. I've really become an odder duck since I started the wire wrapping. Now I carry wire around with me and make oddball winding and weaves to add onto pieces. Did you start this based on the Heath tutorial? You definitely do learn a lot with that "rainbow" technique. There's quite a group of folks who use that type of complex weaving on deviantart.com and I cannot imagine how they get their wraps and wire-add-on-spots so dang clean!

It was a Heath tutorial. I added a few changes since the wire wasn't cooperating and although similiar, it isn't exact. I like the rainbow techniques for a change. It is outside of my comfort zone and sometimes it is good to push it. As I said, it isn't something I would wear but a great learning experience.

It is pretty, but I am like you I wouldn't wear it either, it's a little too busy for my taste. Tami

Cool! I love that African turquoise cab you did, beautiful cab. It IS fun, isn't it? I'll have to check out that deviantart.com... (I'd wear it!)

I think it's fabulous, and being one who has tried wrapping with the long lengths of wire, I applaud your finished piece.
I cannot even fathom how much wire that would take or the courage to try a piece like that - *loud applause & standing ovation*
I just noticed the swarovski crystals (I need a better monitor at home!) - what is this rainbow technique that I'm hearing???
BRAVO, BRAVO!
What kind of wire is that?

I used sterling silver wire, 20 gauge for the frame and 28 dead soft for weaving. Rainbow technique refers to the coiling and weaving techniques. It has also been referred to as an organic look which I still don't see the relevance.

Wow, that is something else. I've never seen so much cool wire patterns in one wrap. It looks almost alive, like it's gonna grab onto me ;D Steve
