I spent most of the day playing with rocks. Slicing and cabbing and more slicing! Thanks to Keith....my saw is working perfectly! I learned one thing today....a diamond blade will slice the tip of your finger off! In my case..my thumb Fortunately...I am used to getting cuts so it didn't bother me too much and it didn't interrupt my fun ;D Here's some pre-forms and a few free forms ready to be dopped and cabbed. (Lagunas, Condors, WaveHill, Crazy Lace, Bots, Dryhead, Silver sheen obsidian, Teepee Canyon(thanks Rog)) And a few fishies! I always try to slice a few of these when I'm cutting. The end cuts work really well for a Fish. I have quite an assortment...Crazy Lace, Condor, Dryhead, Wood, even Bots! I guess it's now time to start cabbing! I don't have too many of these days, but I need to take advantage of the weekends I spend to myslef. Steve

Steve, those preforms are awesome. I don't know if you do something special with the fishies but I once saw at a craft show large fish bowls set up (water, plants etc) the fish were glass attached to thin wire stands at various heights.
I can see your gorgeous fish in a bowl like that.

You guys are the bestest! ;D Beef...the fish are right now waiting for the big slurry pond. I'll be changing my tumbler this week..{auto-correct: MOV files not allowed}ing material to 3rd stage and starting a new batch for 1st stage...which these fishies along with others will be a part of. Lori...I got this idea from Ed (stoner) He actually made his grandchild a fishbowl out of rocks. I tried some and I fell in love doing them. Last year I made about 12 of them to give as gifts. I've had several requests since...so that's why I just keep doing them. I drill holes through them, suspend them from a fishline, glue little googly eyes on them, and add some of my tumbled stones and a plant. It was a splendid idea; and I'm sure glad Ed shared it with us. I will post these cabs as they transform themselves into beauties. Steve

Steve, those preforms are beautiful - I can't wait to see the cabs! Those little fishies are cool too - I've never seen anything like it. Do you just tumble polish them?

Patti, Yep...that's all I do. I have about a 80/20 surviveable rate. Many fish will lose their tails in the 1st stage...the ones that make it through the 1st stage; usually go on through the next 3 stages of life without any probs...than they get to live their life swimming happily! I've only had to clean up a few really messy situations, thankfully. A head broken off...or a body tore in half. It's not a very pretty site. ;D Steve

That is "focus!" Slice the end of your thumb off and create beauty like that! I'd like to see what you'd give your right arm for! <G> Those are REALLY GREAT!

Great fishbowls, Steve. And the "realistic fish" is nice too. Did you catch it yourself?

Hope; yep! My brother and I enjoy flyfishing, but he likes fishing more and I like rockhunting more...so we usually incorporate both if we can. We don't see each other often enough, so 98% of the time I will choose rocks over fish. You can see the fly I was using...a Joes Hopper! Thom; anything for ROCKS! Anyone need a kidney or something...trade for rocks! Steve
