I'd like to add a vibrator to my rockshed, and I'm hoping to learn from the collective experience...
I'd like a vibrating tumbler capable of processing 10-20 lbs of rock. I think I'd like adjustable speed. Need it to be relatively quiet.
I've looked at the offerings from Thumlers, Raytech, and Rock-N-Tumble. They all seem competent...
Any suggestions?

Cool, it will be interesting to get some opinions on different vibes. I wouldn't feel qualified to recommend mine, as I've never seen another in action to compare it to. And, I'm not really a long time tumbler either. But, I may as well tell you a little about it. It is a Thumblers Industrial Ultra Vibe 10. It seems to be well made and has been without problems for the 6 months or so it has been running. The speed is not adjustable, and I'll tell you, it isn't quiet at all compared to the rolling tumbler I run. But I think that is the nature of vibes, you may not be able to find a stealth model. The machine doesn't make the racket, it is the rocks contacting that raise the ruckus. It is down right annoying with the lid off, a bit quieter with it on but still loud in my opinion. I pad with a little dish soap to hush it up some, but it seems the louder it is, the quicker it polishes. I looked at several others before I bought this one and it did seem to have the sturdiest bowl of the bunch. Well, I hope this helps some, good luck trylobyte. Talk to you later, Don

Well, after flogging the net to get me a good deal, I found an Ultra Vibe 10 for $85.00 from, of all places, Cabela's (one of my favorite sporting goods outfits). This seems way cheap, since I saw a couple of prices in the 190's.
I'm going to unwrap it, and if I like it I'll probably need at least one more. At that price, they're almost disposable...

Man, that almost sounds too good to be true huh? The only thing I can figure is that it isn't the 'industrial' Ind model Trylobyte. I saw them from the high $190's to about $225. I paid $198 for mine. If that is the same model, you found a great deal, and I took a beating on mine . I hope it is the same, but if not, I hope it works good for you. Like you said, at that price they are like a bic tumbler. Let me know OK? They are building a Cabellas super store about a half an hour south of me and I'll have to check it out when they open. Later, Don Almost forgot ;D You wrote in another thread: > "Who would ever have guessed that the stone age continues into the 21st century. Either that...or Don is the missing link... "< Hehe, I like it! And come to think of it, I do have larger than normal brow ridges.....LOL

...And I'll presume that you and I both share a smaller-than-average cranium volume...

BTW...
Thumlers is on my way home, so I think I'll stop in and ask if there are two different Ultra Vibe 10's.
BTW2...
Entering Ultra Vibe 10 into Google brings back some very interesting links...if your a woman.

d**n...
You're right Sandman! Two different Ultra Vibe 10's with the same name. Thanks for taking the time to check it out. I was in the Thumler shop couple days ago buying a motor, and it really is a mom and pop operation.
Well, I can't have no puny vibrator! Just like rough, the gear's gotta meet the standard. I'll have to return it and pony up the 2 hun.
d**n, no free lunch today.
