I pm’d Nicole a while back and asked if she would teach me how to cab. She was gracious and said she would, so I will be cabbing tomorrow. Yippee! Yesterday I bought a new blade for my HD tile saw and started my first attempts at performing to bring them with me to cab. This pic includes Chysocolla and Onyx from Jamie and Imperial Jasper from Mary Ann along with some ebay wins of Wonderstone and other stuff. These are from stones I collected at Nantasket beach. The last pic is what I thought was Dino Bone. I cut it and don’t think that it is. As Akansan thought, probably just conglomerate. If you think otherwise, feel free to say so. Nicole, a big thank you. I am really looking forward to this. Thanks everyone for looking.

This will be fun, Lori! Some of those materials I've not worked before (Onyx or wonderstone). Your preforms look good...already well on their way.

you should have a blast. do worry about your nails, they will be gone after tomorrow lol the imperial and onyx should shine up really nice, the chrysocolla takes alittle more effort but so worth it when your done.
Have Fun and don't forget , pics.

haha, no French tips for me! Short and sweet are the way I like my nails. Just like me.lol. I had the tile saw going most of the day. I thought my neighbor would be upset as it is outside. She came over to see what I was doing. Said the sound of the saw was putting her to sleep. Very mesmerizing!
I've been dreaming of making my own cabs for 3 years now (ever since I started beading) Just real happy right now. ;D

If you are using dop sticks through all the grinding and polishing steps, your nails will be just fine. However, if you are one of those people like me who does not use a dop stick and holds them by hand, you will still have nails when you are done.... but they will look like roller coasters and with some shiny beveled edges!

Good looking preforms. I like the Wonderstone. Be careful it is soft.
