How much rock and grit do you put in one that big? Neighbor has one sitting on his yard. A good sandblasting and reworking would have it going.

I had meant to ask if it were a lined tumbler or not. Don't guess that would make any real difference on rough tumble.

woke up to know noise in the garage, well the load had cut so much that their was a mud ball rolling around in the barrel, pint of water and tighten the drive belt, and i`m back to making mud. It`s that dam holly blue very rough, though the material should be slowing down on cutting. the crust is very sharp, A lot of hill`s and valley`s to flatten even. The grit i dump a lot to it, since i started 3 Lbs. 60/90 - 2 Lbs. 80. Saturday i 2 Lbs. 40/70. From here on just water for the next 2 weeks. then dump and sort the material and start the Vibra-Sonic VSV-50 , & the duel 4 Powder. may use the Sears tumbler ( 12 Lb. )to, it may be a Elder though it tumble a great load. Sear`s & Reobuck sold this unit though i can`t find a tag on it for company that built it. Jack C.

Wash out the mud with the rock load in barrel just enough water to get most of the mud off the material, Then i added 3 Lbs. off 80-Grit, This well run for the next six days with a check of Slurry in two days, when i first drain the barrel i had 2 gallons of mud from the 40/70 stage.
This came off of 52 Lbs of rough rock. and 10 Lbs of ceramic. The 3 rd day i open the barrel up it looked like Mission Soap with one rock.............. I added about 12 Lbs. Baby Brazilian agate, 15 Lbs. more of Holley Blue, And three huge handfuls of Montana Moss agate, and another two hand fulls of ceramics, and added more 3 Lbs. of 60/90 with the 40/70. This ran tell 09-27-08 AM,
I thin down the bucket of slurry and i let it stand for a few hour`s, Then i carefully dip off the slurry on top to about the 4 inch level above the bottom of the five gallon bucket, Then i add a few drops of soap to wet the water and add one gallon of water in mix and stir tell well mixed.
Let this settle for a day to stick to the bottom of the five gallon bucket. then pour the water off slowly the course grit should be on the bottom of the bucket.
This slurry i reuse for the next course run. to make the slurry mix with new grit....
Oh Sure, Their way, Your way, And My Way.......................
