Here's what we brought home from the Lincoln, MO rock swap and mozarkite dig. The first three photos are the mozarkite. Those showing red are considered higher grade. I brought home a number of larger rocks that were low grade mozarkite, or chert, for garden rocks. However, this year I had a fair amount of luck finding good color, and actually, one of those big boulders has a window showing good color inside. And these came off of the flatbed. I love this guy, he comes to the swaps with a flatbed trailer loaded with rocks and charges $10 for a small bucket and $20 for a big one to get whatever you can fit in. These added up to a slightly heaping small bucket that he charged $12 for. This time, he had a lot of WY wood, including some really pretty Farson wood. Also, that green slab towards the middle is allegedly WY jade. I liked his pickings this time. I got several water level agates that look interesting. It was a fun and productive trip but a grueling dig, it was the humidity that made it bad I guess.

Me too. You can tell I was after color while picking stuff off of the flatbed. The photos don't do the mozarkite justice. There's some really beautiful higher grade stuff in there, and I really like the other as well -- many of them have a lot of purple, lavender and pink in them and nice patterns, but the owner of the deposit considers those just junk.

If or when you slab the Mozarkite, can you post pics. The name Mozarkite is new to me and the colors so beautiful in the rough that I'd love to see some as slabs.

Sure will -- the problem is that I have so much I want to saw that I don't know where to start. I might have posted some cuts of mozarkite in the past, don't remember. In the meantime, try this link for some photos of the stuff. www.mozarkite.com/newsletter.html

Wowsers, woman! You rock. And, once you get it smaller, I would be interested in stuff, if you want to go there. Let me know! Thanks, K

Puppie, thanks for the link. Just as I thought, the slabs are beautiful and I look forward to the ones you will be cutting.
