I finally found some time to work on cabs while I was on vacation last week. Here are the ones I've got finished...and a bunch still in the works. Hope you enjoy the pics...sorry about the lint! #1 - More of the chert I dug at the Ace of Diamonds Mine in Herkimer. It takes an awesome shine: #2 - This stuff is pretty soft. I'm thinking it's a banded onyx. #3 - Carnelian from a nodule from Mel. #4 - Unknown...some sort of orbicular jasper, maybe? #5 - Another unknown...poppy jasper is my guess. #6 - Thunder egg from Mel. #7 - Another softie...onyx again? #8 - Really cool red moss agate from Jamie. That part that looks like druzy is actually completely filled in with clear agate...it's a little window. #9 - Lastly a little Boulder Opal pebble that sitnwrap gave me. I think these were tumbled originally. I reworked the stone and got a lot more out of it. The stone has amazing green pinpoint flash, which you only get hints of in the photos. My first time ever working BO, and it was nice to have these pieces to play with and get a feel for the stone.

Those are some great patterns in the T-Egg. Do not get to find to many like that. #4 looks like it might be Turritilla that was cut across the layering of the shells.

Those are all really nice I the Carnielian the best. I am also a big fan of Chert as I dig quite a bit of it locally.

I have some Turitella, and this stuff doesn't show any indication of there being shells in it. It's weird... Yeah, that T-egg was a really, really good one.

You really put a great shine on all and each one has an awesome pattern. That Thunder Egg and the Carneleon are my favorites.
I know you got a lot more pin fire in the BO. If you want to cut it in half, go for it. If it gets ruined, I'll be up in Shelburn Falls next year and will pick up a couple more for you.

First thing I saw was the great shine on them all! Love the chert and the carnelian. Try shooting the opal in the sun to get that fire to show. Tony
