Brian sent me this cab during the summer and when I first laid eye on it, I knew it had to be wrapped in gold. It took a while but here it is; my first gold wrap: Back ] Side: I show this because I thought It would help others. When curling off two or more end wire with needle nose pliers, because of the graduation in diameter of the needle nose, the curls do not come out uniform and can make the finished product look sloppy.. So I shortened the outside end wires and wrapped them over, individually and left the middle wire longer and then wrapped it under. Thanks for looking and a big thank you again to who ever posted how to determine length of wire needed for a wrap as it has saved me from wasting preciouse wire.

sorry for the pics, I did crop for better view but my photobucket hasn't caught up, shows the cropped pic in the bucket but displays the original when I copy and paste.

Wow very very pretty Lori. I like the way you have the wires bent just enough to hold the stone in. At first glance I couldn't figure out what was keeping the stone it.

That came out GREAT, Lori!!!!! How did you find the gold to work with? Was it softer than the nasty stuff I have?

Thanks for the compliments and sorry about this being in the cab section. Had a bit of trouble posting it and goofed in where it should be.
Nicole, the wire I got was softer than yours but I think it is also thinner. My local supplier is GEMORAMA. (hope that is ok to post) I do know GF is mixed with different metals so maybe the stuff I have is mixed with a softer metal.
CUL-Ann, Go for it. I was apprehensive also. What worried me the most was scratching the wire with the pliers so for the most part, I used my fingers to bend and shape and used the pliers only for the curls and pressing on the binds.

Great wrap & stone. Looking at yours I realize that I may be making my girdles too thick on my cabs! My cabs need to lose weight!
Beautiful job!

Super nice, Lori! Love the gold with the stone and your bail curls. I was just thinking if I want to try gold with my opals, I'd better buy some now before I can't afford it any more... and I think your post has pushed me over the edge Tony

Thanks all. Tony, the gold with the Opals will look fantastic. Looking forward to those pics! As with Jonje's wrap, Dino Bone wears gold beautifully. The metal complements the stone.
Dennis, it would be an honor.

Randy, Tami, Fran & 49er, thank you. It is the comments and the cheering on that mean so much and helps when trying something new or just starting out. Tweetiepie, last I heard, it was the girdle that forces the frame in shape at least in the bod

It looks VERY ellegant, no matter the point from where it is watched. Beautiful pendant! I agree, that stone demanded gold.

Very stunning, it looks great, all you wire wrappers impress me, I just can't get the knack. I know it is scary using the good metals, considering the price. Lovely!
