My wife and I were looking to start wire wrapping and wondered where you buy your silver wire? I plan on starting with copper till I get the hang of it but with silver prices down I though that I would buy some and hold on to it. Thats if the cost of wire is determined by the metal price.

I buy from a couple places, depending on what else I'm buying at the time. My two main places are: www.monsterslayer.com www.thunderbirdsupply.comI'll also buy from Rio Grande, but the prices above are better than Rio's prices. Thunderbird also does a lot of 500 oz. sales - where they'll sell their metals at the 500 oz. price break rather than the price break you would typically earn. Good place for copper supplies is www.brandywinejewelrysupply.com - they have square copper wire and half round in dead soft and half hard. And yes, at the good places, the price of the wire is determined by the price of silver. You'll want places that sell the wire by the ounce rather than prepackaged by the foot. Places that sell by the ounce are constantly changing the price of their wire to reflect actual value of the silver + the work rather than a flat fee.

Hi, I also buy from Monsterslayer. They always get it shipped fast, and haven't made a mistake on my order yet! And I can do it easily online instead of phoning, which I prefer. But Rio comes on these nifty spools if you order by the ounce.

As a Canadian I buy mostly from Imperial Ready Stock Catalogue in Markham, Ontario. They are competitive with the U.S. prices and ship fast.

I prefer Rio due to the fact that they carry argentium sterling silver.

Jeremy, have you priced the argentium from the other places? I've found Rio to be about $1-$3 more an ounce (must be that spool!) across the board, whether for sterling, fine, or argentium...
