Has anyone tried using a diamond drill bit core to make a donut, then take a different donut hole and put it inside of the donut?
For example, take a piece of black jade and cut a hole in the center using a core bit. Then, take a piece of...say....jasper....and cut a hole in it using the core bit. Now, take the small circle piece of jasper and place it inside of the black jade circle hole. Glue the two together and polish it into a cab. Would this even work?

No, not unless you use two closely matched hole saws, where the OD of the smaller one equals the ID of the bigger one, if you get my drift. ;D
You gotta take the thickness/kerf of the hole saw into account.

I have often thought about this myself. I am glad to see someone else attempt it. I now know it is possible. The only question I would have is what to use for glue/binder. I would want something very strong, and will not yellow. I am new enough to this hobby that I really have no clue what everyone is using. The only one I have tried is Super Glue.

You would have to match yer holes for sure. It's called Intarsia, and usually done from the center out, by glue and grinding as you go. Good luck with it anyway, I for one would like to see what kind of results you get.

I believe Hughes 330 would do the trick for ya when you get the pieces matched. It dries very clear.
