My cabs have shown up here before as tonyterner's student. Here are my two newest cabs. This is only the third and fourth cabs that I've made. They will be presents for family members. I was told when I bought this that the glass is a byproduct of Civil War cannons. It has pits in the glass but I like them since they are naturally occurring. I'm not sure what this is. Any ideas? Sorry for the blurry pic.

Very nice cabs! Tony must be a pretty darn good teacher! I would guess the last as Lapis or Sodalite. Steve

I love the blues! That glass is really unique. I have to agree with Steve. The last one looks to be Lapis or Sodalite. Such a pretty color! You have done some great work for just learning! Fran

The glass is beautiful. I love the fact that it has a story and history that comes along with it and the pits add character.
What ever the blue one is, it is really pretty. Great job!

I don't think I'm a good teacher, heck I barely know what I'm doing, but she is picking things up pretty quickly. The glass cab is very pretty and she did a great job on it.
I'm not sure what the last one is but its definitely not lapis or sodalite, I've cabbed both of those. This seems to be pretty soft. Of course the pic I took is terrible so its hard to really tell what the stone looks like.

You're obviously a quick study, bejewlme! Great job on both of them! I really like how the glass came out.

Tony is a good teacher, and the blue one is not sodalite or lapis, it is very pretty, it is a shame the photo is not so great. I like blues and so does my family, it was hard to find material that is a lovely shade of blue, so I found that first glass, and another one, that Tony must take a picture of and post on here, mainly because of the colors I thought we could try it. I have very little patience, so for me it is all about looking at the rock and thinking about how soon it can be polished and worn around my neck. I like the end result, I like to coordinate all my outfits with the pretty colored stones Tony has made me, and I am always amazed by how many people comment on them. It was easy to lure me into the basement, I just don't like cutting the girdle and the first steps, I like the end part making them shiny, and making the free-form designs. It was easy to follow Tony into his basement, I would follow him anywhere.

I think we have finally come to the conclusion that the last cab is dumotierite, it is hard to tell from the picture, but from looking at samples we think that is what it is, I think Tony has more so he will have to cab another piece and take another photo.
