A short time ago I bought some pink limb cast rough from stonesthatrock and it's GREAT material.Hard, solid and beautiful color. I modified Adrian's idea a bit by letting the sterling silver protrude around the stone a bit giving it a "frame". The cab was easy but I still have problems wrapping the bails! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Comments and cretinisms are WELCOME! connrock

Tom, I suppose if I'd say "Beautiful pendant" that would be considered a cretinism, not a comment? ;D But I wouldn't be far from truth saying that. The protruding style is very hard to do, as it requires a very constant depth of the groove. I've made it too, but using a twisted square wire because it looks better I think. Don't worry about the bails, I found them very hard to do in the beginning, always needed a third hand but now I'm quite content with the two ones that I own, LOL. Congratulations, and I almost forgot about the stone: this really IS gorgeous Adrian PS. A side pic would be great, as Dr Joe said above. To me it looks like the cab is double domed, and if it's so I wander how did you manage to use your grooving machine.

Tom, you did good!! I have trouble with bails too, but yours looks fine to me. I just think we need to do 40 or so before we can get it like we want. So.... cretinous it is not! Tony

I think it looks great, I love pink anyway, so I love the stone, I like the simple wraps that really show off the stones, wrapping is hard, and it takes practice, I gave up, but can so much more appreciate other's work now having tried numerous times, and throwing the wire across the room.

bejewel, I found a way to stop me from throwing things in my shop.
I have a shallow pan of water under my bench filled about 3/4 full of salted water.
I keep 1 foot in the pan at all times. There's not enough room for both feet because the hair drier takes up a lot of room!
When I get the urge to start throwing things I just plug in the hair drier for a second or 2 and it really takes my mind of the throwing thing!
The draw back is that I can't do much for about 1/2 hour or until I stop shaking,,,which ever comes first!!
Adding the salt to the water really helped!!!

The cab is so beautiful and displaying it on rough limb cast creates the perfect touch. The wrap is really nice I love the silver framing the stone.

Fran, Thanks, I wasn't sure about pink and silver but I am sure about the cost of gold!! Maybe in my next life! LOL

Tom you just aint right. lol That is a very pretty wrap and I can see where that groove adds a lot of work, and grief, to the project. You did a bang up job on the wrap. That limb cast is such a pretty color, well worth the effort.

Super lovely stone! You say you have problems with bails? Get bail pliers from brandywinejewerysupply.com . You will use them for LOTS of others things too. Oh...I like more wire showing...way to go!

bejewel, Don't forget the salt or you'll just kinda shiver a bit!
Tony, Thanks, If you knew how much time and grief that notch saves me from wire wrapping you wouldn't think it was a lot of work. Making the "slab slitter" took a bit of time but to cut a cab with it takes less then a minute. Now if I can only make a stinkin bail!! LOL
nan'f, Thanks,,,,,
Thanks for the plier suggestion. They may save a life!! LOL
I agree that this piece could use just a "bit" more silver but it was kind of a trial thing. I DO NOT like a lot of wire but a little here and there looks great,,,,,to me!

oh...I meant on the edge. I liked the way you did it...not too deep into the stone, but deep enough to hold. Therefore, showing a little more wire. You'll love those pliers. To me, they are a MUST have.
