Very rare red Palm Don't find much of this and this piece only made one small cab. The camera picked up a lot of yellow from somewhere. The cab is solid red. The blue is a reflection from my jeans. This one is a mystery. I found it in my Snakewood creek so I thought it was opalized Snakewood, now I'm not so sure. A friend of mine that found an 80% whole dinosaur told me that if you stick your tongue to bone, it will stick. I noticed when my hands were dry they stuck to the wet rough. So I put my tounge and sure nuff it stuck. What do you guys think? Wood or bone? It has clear agate fractures and the blue is of course my jeans again. Thanks fer lookin' Curt

Great cabs Curt. Going by your friends advice, I say it's bone.

Yea, and if you lived in a place where it snowed all winter, you'd probably try to get some kid to lick a light pole! Nice cabs Curt.

If it wasn't the blue-green area in the right side of the seccond cab, the first one would had been my favorite, with that amazing shine and beautiful color. But, this way, the decision is more difficult.
As for the ID of the second one, it could be also a length cut through a bone, but the cells seem a bit smaller than what I saw till now in the dino bones.

That red palm is really cool. The second one I really don't know. I get a lot of fossilized bone around here but none with clear agate so I do not have anything to compare it too apples to apples but the patterns look similar to some of the bone I have cut.

Sweet Cabs Curt. That 2nd has me stumped. I haven't seen bone that looks like that though...and none that I have licked sticks to my tongue. Maybe it's Texas Dinos verses Utah ones. Steve

Boy Curt, that is like the reddest palm I've ever seen! Fantastic cab! Regarding the other specimen, I know the Glen Rose Limestones in Texas have dino fossils and there's pretty heavy silicification there too as it also contains lots of flint and often silicifed snails etc. Also might be mammal bone of some sort. I'd guess bone would definitely be a possibility. Coral might also be a possibility and those often show sort of a cellular pattern. A cut across the stone perpendicular to the pattern might give a more definitive answer....Mel

Killer shine on those cabs. They are both very pretty material and you did them well. Can't help with the ID though.

Wow, they are really neat. That red palm is beautiful. The other very interesting. I would have never licked it, I would probably still be walking around with it stuck to my tongue. I'm always yelling at Tony for licking rocks.
