I like that blue lace pendant, very original! I think you had to do at least one soldering with the stone mounted, how did you protect it against heat?

Wow, what a way to show off that stone! Really original, someone will be wearing that proudly! Ditto, I see no mistakes either...

Nancy, Thanks, The wire is called "twisted wire" It comes in different gages like the other silver wire. I bent the main frame of the cross, bent the inner and outer crosses from the twisted wire and silver soldered them together. For me it's easier said then done! LOL Adrian, The stone has "your" slit cut around the edges. The wire at each of the 2 corners is twisted. The circle is made of 1/2 round wire (I think it was 16 gage?). I drilled 3 holes in the circle and silver soldered the twisted wires to it. I soldered the scrolls, the top twisted wire and bail first because they took a lot more heat. I used several heat sinks to protect the stone. M-R-3, Thanks, There are a LOT of mistakes and I'm sure the "real" jewelers here can see them without trying.I know what I am supposed to be doing but I need a lot more practice to do it right. deedoice, Thanks, The design is actually the insignia of Alcoholics Anonymous,a triangle inside of a circle. I've made several "insignia" type pieces and have given them to those who belong to AA. This one was gone before it had a chance to cool off!!! LOL lapi-x Thanks, The blue lace agate was a piece of cake but the cross raised a few hairs on the back of my neck,,,,,several times! connrock

tweet, hanks, No ,,,no stone.
I would have loved to have one in the cross bi my ability is a bit lacking in that area! LOL I have a garnet a friend from Australia found himself and had faceted for me.It would be beautiful in the center of the cross but I have NO idea how to do it! I was just happy with the cross not having a major melt down as is!
Tony, Thanks,,, I annealed the 1/2 round wire and formed it around a piece of copper tubing, cut it with a jewelers saw and silver soldered it.
I'm "trying" to broaden my ability by using different size silver instead of everything being the same. It's a bit difficult to silver solder the twisted wire I used as a inner and outer "frame" on the cross. I learned that if the twisted wire has ANY gap where the flame from the torch is,,,,,MELT DOWN big time!
Considering it took me hours and hours just to form the wire ,a melt down is heart breaking, frustrating and a good time to go watch TV !!! LOL

b-jewel,,,
If I took close-ups you could see the mistakes! I like to compare my work with what a REAL jeweler would have made and I'm slowly getting there.
Jack, Thanks,,,, Ditto on what I wrote above!
As you well know it's not easy for old eyes and shaking hands to do this sort of thing!!!!!LOL

Tom... you sure are making great strides! I have so much catching up to do. Really impressive work. Why couldn't you use sheet and bezel wire to set the stone, and solder it to the center of the cross? I can see I'm going to have to be writing you for hints and tricks once I get started. Nice work for sure!! Tony

Tony W, Thanks I could solder a bezel to the center if I knew how to do it without melting everything else!!! LOL
One step at a time!!

If you are looking for perfection, you are getting there! I love them both and I too was wondering how you suspended the stone in the circle so I am glad you explained. Fran
