This is my first try at a wrap. Its a local rock, don't know what type. Not as fancy as some but we all have to start somewhere.

That is beautiful. WTG! That does not look anything like a first wrap. More like you have been wrapping for quite a while. What ever the stone is it looks great in the wrap and has a wonderful shine and pattern to it.

Is that a groove wrap? you must be a natural to get it looking so great your first attempt! The stone is very fascinating also. So much going on that it is great you didn't have to cover the stone up with the wrap. Keep up the great work! Fran

Yes it is a groove wrap. I'm trying to get something like Adrians but I have a ways to go. Mine looks ok from the front, but I'm not ready to post a side picture like he does by a long shot.

Post the side too, Saskrock, maybe if I see it I could help you. But from the angle you pictured it, it looks great! In order to improve its look, hammer the wire of the coil or use half round. Also you could level the wire that surronds the cab, bringing it to the level of the margins of the cab. Do this either with a file (steel file, not diamond, the diamond file scratches the stone) or with a knife (the knive's blade is able to remove the wire in excess and in the same time puts a luster on it).
Keep practicing, you do a great job! I like to see my idea applied by other members, you're welcome to "step on my shoulders", I'm waiting you to improve my technique and then I could step on your shoulders, too ;D

I've been thinking about building a jig of some kind. Right now I'm using a 4.5" diamond blade mounted on my flat lap because its too cold out to use my saw. So a jig or spring will be required to do better I think.

That is a very nice job for a first wrap. I didn't do that well on my first attempt.
