I have an almost new 8 inch lap and it works great… when it’s not out of balance. The backing plates (master laps) center on the drive hub and don’t vibrate at all. The sanding discs are glued to backing plates so they don’t vibrate either. But the laps I bought for it vibrate like a son of a gun. They are secured with a quarter inch bolt going through a have inch hole and it takes numerous attempts to get it centered so it won’t wobble.
Does anyone else have that problem or am I doing something wrong.

Garrett,
Either glue the laps to a backer or see if the local hardware has thin 1/2" x 1/4" bushings. If you glue them buy 3M Feathering Disc Adhesive. It is a non-permanent glue sold in hardware stores for sanding discs. It allows you to easily pull the lap plate off when worn out or use the backer for other laps.
