It has been too cold to cab so I decided to frustrate myself and get real angry at being all thumbs Then I messed up with the camera..... so here are the results, lol. Dino My first finished groove wrap.... had a really nice opal finished but broke it trying to tap down the wire with Maxwell's silver hammer Bot Lace.... I just can't seem to get twisted wires to do anything but look messy. I guess I put more binding wraps on this one than I've done altogether on the other wraps I've done Royal Sahara Thanks , Tony

I love the dino bone and, of course, that grooved Bot Very even framing, it looks like you managed to do a groove with constant depth. You did WHAT? You hammered the pendant to flatten the wire? I never did it, never thought to do. I only use a file (steel file, not diamond file, in order to grind only the silver and not the stone). Too pitty the boulder opal broke The RSJ is also beautiful. WOW! Great job on all of those, but that Dino takes the cake! It is gorgeous. Way to go Mr. Thumbs. LOL. Your lace is also killer. What type of wire are you using and do you twist it yourself? I made the mistake of twisting half hard wire and I could barely work with it as it got to hard with the twisting. I found dead soft works better and is easier to play with. I really like your wraps, Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Randy! I guess what comes around goes around because I've been getting my ideas from you Tonja... thanks... you are a sweetie! Well, I made the mistake of buying half hard... it makes the whole thing hard all the time. Next time it is dead soft for me. I use a pin vise and twist along my thigh but I think I need lots of practice Adrian... thanks for the compliments from my guru! Yeah, I hammered the wire on the stone... won't do that again with opal... would probably work with harder stone just fine. Tony

Tony: They look great, I especially like the dino the way you curled the wires on the front, and I like the twisted wire with the crazy lace. I think you do nice wire wraps, it sucks you had a cab break though, especially an opal, Amber

I have very good luck with dead soft wire, using the small pin vise as well. Hint: only twist about 4 inches at a time holding the untwisted section with flat nose pliers and count the number of turns each time. This way your wire will look the same all the way down. Looking at your twisted wire I would also suggest you twist it a little tighter such as that in the photo here: s287.photobucket.com/albums/ll130/glovell_photos/?action=view¤t=turquoise.jpg

Thanks, Rockaddict for the great advice! Yeah, I've been trying to roll the whole length and get some tight and some loose, of course Something tells me dead soft will help all my efforts. T

I like the bail treatment on the dino bone, lovely. I wouldn't suggest you hammer the wire on any stone. Been there, done that.... cracked it!

All of the wrap are wonderful. I love that Dino and what you did with the wire at the top. Your bindings are nice and tight. Congrats on your first groove wrap it looks great. I bet if anything is salvageable on that Opal, you will rework it.
When I want one whole length of wire twisted, I use my screw gun as it is faster but when using the gun, the twists will be tighter at the ends so I add a little extra wire to compensate and just clip off the ends when done. I also will anchor one side to the gun, let it twist then swap ends and anchor the other side and twist. This helps with the uniform of the twist.

Dang dude if you're all thumbs than I must be all pinky toes. lol Those are pretty darn nice. The dino and the RSJ show some really nice bindings, shapes and bails.
