I see where mm is used for the size of the stones and about everything else. I always have used inches and foot ecc. It is very hard for me to see the size (2mm or 23mm) and know if it is pinpoint size or football size. What can be gotten to help understand sizes?? Or is there a chart that can be had so I can look at my tape and know what the size looks like? Thanks,

Most rules (I am a Ruler) have both metric and SAE (inch) measurements for comparison. I keep a steel square (it measures in right angle directions and calipers handy if I am uncertain or need to know precisely.
It's cheap insurance.

My rule of thumb is 3mm= 1/8 inch, 6mm= 1/4 inch, 25mm= 1 inch. BUT of course that ain't accurate down to the teeny tiniest fraction, just a close estimate. When I was a rank beginner in the jewelry stuff I called a (well-known) place and ordered some wire. "I want 1/16th inch silver wire". She said we only have metric sizes. OK says I, then 1&1/2 mm, 5 meters long. "Oh we only sell it by the foot" LOL.
