Just finished these up. All 3 are local Estevan agates that I found this year. And Backlit Backlit you can see the healed fracture in this one. Darn glaciers were none to careful.

If you hadn't said they were Estevan Agates I would've guessed Montanas. The middle one looks like it has some nice banding. Those glaciers will do that I guess. Most of the Lakers I've ever cut are fractured...which is really too bad, cuz I like them sooo much. Nice stuff and thanks for sharing. Steve

Yes, me too I think they look like Montanas. I like all of them but especially the third one.

They do look very similar to Montana's. The chain of volcano's that formed the montana agates extended up across the Canada/USA border into southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The biggest difference is probably with the rough agates. Montana's generally have a white/grey skin on the outside hiding what is inside. The ones here almost never have that. We usually have fewer dentrics to. Here is some more info. www.minerals-n-more.com/Mt_Agate_Info.html

those do look like montanas. Very nice work. Ralph and i bought a machine from js gems to cut the groove in cabs. Well it does a good job, i just don't wire wrap so its kinda a waste. It makes nice grooves though lol

Oh, I like healed fractures. It gives the pattern more character. Great wraps and I do love that last one

It is great that you have so much nice material there around you! I really would have thought it to be Montana also but most that I have gotten has had fractures. Those are pretty clear pieces. Really lovely! Fran

I'm halfway between Montana and Souiris Manitoba so I get ones that could go either way, some look a bit like both types. Where are you from Tweetiepy, most people have never heard of Souris.

Where are you from Tweetiepy, most people have never heard of Souris. I'm from Gatineau Quebec (just next to Ottawa) - my very first order of rocks was from Souris (I don't remember how I found them - maybe an online search or something) - their souris agates are very similar to yours - haven,t seen any other rocks that look like theirs - their not quite as clear as the montanas are. Their Souris pet wood is like the one Rollingstone has - they look like a tree branch - my dad nabbed a polished piece off me You guys get all the nice stuff, we only get the ugly rocks here, nothing nice

Nice agates! I like the one with the healed fracture the most. The glacier's added touch. Steve
