A christmas gift for a cousin. A 25x18 Mexican Rainbow Obsidian cab "nested" in sterling silver euro 4in1 chain mail. Jump rings are 22g, 1/8"ID reduced around both edges to form a nest for the cab to sit in. Marked on the back with my little signature "S" to show that it was handmade by me. Thanks for lookin, Shannon

I don't know absolutely nothing about that technique, but I wander if you could replace the last row of rings on the face with a contour wire that would be tensioned somehow, keeping the rest of the rows stuck to the pendant. This way you could save some rings which I think they require a huge amount of work and in the same time you could increase the visibility of the stone.
Great work, as I already told you elsewhere.

Adrian,
There are other chain mail weaves that do exactly as you mentioned.......securely hold the stone while maintaining complete visibility on the front. I just chose this particular weave for this stone because my cousin is a frilly girly type and the more simple one wouldnt have been as attractive to her. Me personally, I like more simple, like your groove wraps..

Great, Shannon! I was talking about doing a braclet with chainmail weaves, but never got past making a million rings and then having huge trouble with anything after that I don't see why you can't start rows out of that and make a braclet, or neckless, or whatever. That is great to see! Maybe I'll pull out my rings again. Like I need another challenge at the moment Tony

Tony,
European 4in1 DOES make wonderful chains. I have one in stainless steel that is a bracelet that I wear daily. And I made one for my mom out of gold filled. The thing I like best about chain mail..........its is the slinkiest, smoothest wonderful feeling jewelry when you wear it. The metal is never cold as it is always at your body temperature and the weaves move and mold to your shape.
Yes, please do pull your rings out! I look forward to seeing more mail creations.

That looks great and the amount of thought you put in to matching the pendant with the person who will receive it says a lot about how you create your designs.
I love the look of the rings. Is it all called chainmaile (sp?) or is that just one design for this type of silver work? I ONCE looked up directions to TRY to do it, realized that I was never going to be able to follow the patterns of which rings loop where.
I love the look of bracelets made this way also. Is it possible to make a bracelet with a cab in the middle with this design?

Yes, it is called Chain mail.........or chain maille depending on who you are and how you want to spell it. Yes, cabs and chain mail can be combined in pendants, bracelets etc. I have some that are half finished and will post them when they are complete.
Thank you for the nice comments.

Just beautiful - I tried to do that but couldn't manage to get the rings to sit properly- have you tried 2 rows of HP3-1 joined in Euro 4-1? I couldn,t figure out how to get that Euro in there - I really like this - sterling always looks so sexy!
Shannon I'm gonna PM you with a picture of what I'd like to attempt....

Very nice job Weeshan,
That's a great twist on a wrapping method and I really love the effect, you struck gold with that one Buddy, your skill and talent shine through every aspect of the design, it's fab! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Cheers,
Sparkles.

That turned out really nice! I have seen that style done in earrings out of guitar pics. One row each side and even though they were large, it looked great. I think your cousin will love it! Fran
