I've constantly been cutting, I just haven't been posting too many pics of stuff. here's a few I cut today though. Some Poppy Jasper...(for Mel) If you know what kind it is...please shout it out. I'm probably putting these up on e-bay...I need some grit. ;D Blue Eden Wood from Wyoming. Lots of little limbs waiting to be dome polished. Not too much to get excited about....but it's something right?!?! Steve

That poppy is really nice! The limbs look kind of neat too! I just love cutting things open and seeing how very beautiful they are. Fran

Steve: That's Hornitos Poppy Jasper from Mariposa County, Calif. That's even rough from the exact pit I was digging shortly before my Texas move. I actually brought several chunks of rough and some slabs from that pit with me when I moved as that's one of my favorite roughs to work. Really takes a lot of dirt removal to find a decent piece now days as most was mined out back in the 1960's and the road into the area is almost overgrown with brush now. Scratched the heck out of my truck getting in there.....Mel

That poppy looks solid and has beautiful colors. The pet wood limb next to your thumb is sweet!

Chas, I visited the Blue Forest area this last summer for two days. There is not much on the surface, but if you dig - whoa boy. I'd be willing to bet that "casual" rockhounds could not dig that area clean in 1000 years. Where I visited already looks like a war zone with holes and pits and piles everywhere, yet 3 of the four spots that we dug in produced material. Plus when we left we surrendered our last hole to somebody that had just recently arrived (complete stranger at the time). That couple continued digging and found EXCELLENT material that they later brought to a show so that we could see it.

Steve, So far only been there once. Karen and I have mumbled about trying again on a long weekend (drive part ways after work; finish drive next day and start digging; dig for 2 solid days; long-day-drive-home). Our current schedule gets us these kind of weekends every other week or so.
However, when does spring break around there? I imagine it stays winterized for quite some time.
