Yep...Know what you mean...
I just bought my 5th tumbler, a nice Thumlers Ultra Vibe 10 Industrial. I'm going to stop by Thumlers and pick it up tomorrow.
Well, wait, that was my 6th, but I'm returning the 5th because it was just the bogus light duty Ultra Vibe that I bought by mistake.

Greetings All, Now I really am getting envious 'cause I only have three tumblers and can only do 36 lbs at a time AND I have to hold off a week before buying my grit and 10 lbs of sodalite from therockshed.com since I have to pay a traffic ticket Seems I forgot to get my car reinspected and was stopped at a roadblock checkpoint and BAM! there goes $70. Oh I could get the cash out of savings or such but I do try to stay on a budget. So no grit this week, BUT by the time I have the cash to pay for it I might have to make that 20 lbs of sodalite instead of 10, just to make myself feel better for having to wait so long WilliamC

You'd laugh if you saw the place. It's in a rundown building in a rundown part of town. They did sell me a motor the other day, but they were reluctant/unwilling to undercut the price of their distributors. There are a number of places that will sell you spares...I use Kingsley North. In fact, I placed the order for the vib'er from a rock shop in Oregon that would normally drop ship the unit (to avoid sales tax and get a good deal) then had them call Thumlers and arrange to have me just stop by and pick it up. I'd be happy to do any favors I could though...in exchange for some rough.

Hey William...sodalite eh? I'm just in love with the look of the the stuff I've done...I've already put one piece into a pendant. The only thing is the shine isn't quite where I'd like it...it's a little dull after the regular grit cycle and ten days in the polish. Do you have any advice for a really high shine?

Greetings All, Hey hematite I don't have any experience with the sodalite yet, but according to www.greatrough.com/rough_sodalite.shtml it should polish with cerium, aluminum, or tin oxide. I get my next paycheck Friday so I'll complete the transaction with Shawn at the rockshed, but I'll only go with the 10 lbs of sodalite since I've also got to pay my customs broker this week so I can pick up my South Africa shipment the following weekend. After that I won't be buying much rough for a while, well at least until I can save up enough to get just one more ton from South Africa that is ;D A more immediate goal is to get another tumbler like the Lortone 3-1.5B and some tin oxide and perhaps titanium oxide in addition to the cerium oxide and aluminum oxide I already have. I'd like to be able to do simultaneous comparisons of three or four different types of polish. WilliamC WilliamC

Hey WilliamC, let me know how the sodalite turns out will ya? I don't know if it's just my weakness for the lovely blue, or if this is something other's share. I looked at the site you sent and I'm just too new at this to commit to buying rough like that. Better for now I should rely on the mixed bags from Shawn at the rockshed I think. Hmmmm maybe I'm just a rock commitment phobe....who knows? Good luck with the shiptment too!
