Put it on the scanner and scan it, you would be surprised how good the images will be doing this...that is if you dont have a digital camera...but careful hard stones can scratch the glass on your scanner if you go slidding them around.

Galena maybe? It looks metallic? do a web search on it and see if you can find it, i have a pic of Galena, maybe I can get it scanned and see if it is the same, assuming I can figure out how to post said picture...a little knowledge can be a scarry thing, I borrowed a book from a boss that has hundreds of rocks, crystals, stones, etc in it, now I have to do searches for all the rough I want

I'm glad to help! That book I have is awesome, I don't know what all you can do with that, it seems to be a failry expensive rock on these sites though, you may be able to sell it for a pretty penny, I don't know if you can tumble it or not, I think its kewl though, the second picture is like the one in the book and I loved it at first site, let me know if you come up with something for it.

Galena makes great fishing weights. Be advised, lead has an high toxicity. It will also absorb a great deal of grit and not show polish progress.

Galena is a really neat "Star Trek / Borg" type of crystal. Did you know that Galena was used in crystal radios as the de modulator or detector. This was the piece of metal that the "Cat's Whisker" made contact with to pick up radio signals !!
