Indian Paint? Not sure what it is but I started slabbing this stuff yesterday. All I know is I like it Anyone know?

Beef: Yep Indian Paint rock. Tends be a little soft and hard to polish but with fantastic patterns. Indian Blanket Jasper from Utah is less colorful but a very hard material....Mel

It is beautiful material, it doesn't get too shiny, but they make neat cabs. It looks like you have a real pretty background color on that. Amber

I've heard this stuff called Death Valley Picture Rock, Indian Paint stone and Indian Paint brush. Apparently, it is from the southern part of the Death Valley region. I have some and it makes for some of the best scenic cabs I've seen. It is very soft and I do not recommend trying to polish on felt/leather pads. When I tried that, it burnished the stone giving it a cloudy haze. I only have wheels up to 3000 grit, but I bet using the 8000/14000/50000 combo would give the best polish. Also, it makes a big mess when you cab it!
