Howdy................I was wondering what you do to hang your wraps? For 3 years now we have been buying cheap silver and gold plated chains to go with our wraps and pendants. We usually keep a few silver and GF chains around that we sell seperately and occaissionally put a nicer silver wrap on a nice silver chain. This winter I started using leather cords with sterling silver ends. I sort of like these........Bob

We have been selling our wire wrapped pieces with leather cords, they seem to be popular with the younger crowd. Cheap silver and gold plated chains tend to be discarded immediatetly and the piece is placed on a chain that they already own.

I'm interested in getting leather cords myself. Have you found a good source?
Thanx!

I'm also a beader so with some of my pendants I will bead a necklace for it. I make sure the bail is large enough so that whoever receives the necklace and pendant can slip the pendant off if they want.
Chrysocola and Turquois pendants wrapped in silver with a simple black bead necklace (I use onyx beads ) find homes really fast and the age group attracted to this type is usually beyond the teen years.
Otherwise, I just offer the pendant by itself. As you said, people usually have their own chains.

I normally have a supply of chains with me when I sell (sterling silver) just in case, but I display my pendants without the chains or any other necklace. I do have some nice satin cord that I've cut into different lengths (brown, grey, and black) that I intend to use during the two shows I've decided to try, but for the most part everyone has just purchased the pendant separately.

I've used several different things. For the ones I wear I prefer leather cord which I get at Micheal's or A.C. Moore. I've also used micro suede that I got on ebay as well as metal wire loop necklaces that also came from ebay. I haven't sold enough to know what people like.

thanx for those websites
I display my pendants at shows without chains. I always have a few inexpensive plated chains with me in a couple different designs and sometimes I'm amazed at how many I sell. I don't carry any chains of quality although I do believe I could sell some if I had them.
With me its about not having a lot of money tied up in inventory (I'm grinning because I have at least 300 finished pendants and at least another 300 in process), but more about sticking with a "craft" or "homemade" theme.
Tony - I'd like to see some of the pendants you and other men wear. I want to expand to mens pendants, but I don't know where to start other than sticking with lines vs curves and earthy stuff vs bright colorful stuff. rather than highjack this thread further I'll start another specific to this.
Question - under what topic should I start that thread?? Doesn't fit with wire wrapping.....general Rocks maybe??
Thanx

IJS has round leather cord on a spool and satin cord in hanks or spools. I use them both at the craft fairs and make my ends with a 4 inch piece of 20 ga sterling round wire melted on one end and wound around a mini-file shank. It's just the right size, make a hook with the balled end then crimp the tag end.

Thanks for the info!! I was just looking at about 200 non-tarnish sterling and gold plate chains hanging in the workshop. They are turning BLACK!!! I just bought a bunch of satin and leather cord on ebay and am looking for sterling and gold fill ends/clasps. I sold a couple silver crosses for Christmas and the buyer took all of the silk cord I had to braid his own neck cords they turned out fantastic. He is going to come back and teach us his braiding technique He learned braiding horse tails for some rich horse guy in Wyoming! I have posted this before. It is my 'Lucky' cow pendant on asimple leather lace with a slip knot on each end of the cord so as I can adjust the length...............Bob
