Howdy folks, Well, yesterday was another hot day so I went out searching for more of those pseudowhatevers and anything else that looked interesting. Found a few weird druzy agatety thingees and some more interesting flint pieces. Here are a few pics. Thanks for looking....mel The two smaller pieces, if I'd found them anywhere else, I'd call them agates. Pretty much clear chalcedony inside. The larger again appears to be a pseudomorph after some kind of coral or something. Has vague circles on one side and druzy whorls on the other. If I'd found this in California or Nevada, I'd call it wonderstone. Some kind of banded flint and really hard: Translucent flint, part purpley gray and the rest yellow. really glassy stuff: Finally, a piece of banded flint and a deep banded translucent carnelian vein still in the limestone:

Nice Finds Mel! Hmmm, warm days. I guess I shouldn't complain. It is 37 here and raining...could be snow so I guess it isn't too bad. The longest I was out today was just long enough to rinse my tumbler barrel out. Not warm enough to want to wander around. That flint even looks warm with it's colors! Fran

Neat rocks you found. I love that banded flint and the carneian. The outer skin on the first rock in the first pic looks like a bunch of something round was imbedded in it at some point and then somehow popped out leaving an indent.

Mel, pics 3&4--were those cracked open when you found them, or did you crack them open? To me, 4 has a thick, boring exterior, so how did you know---? Nona

Nona: #3 was showing a little bright yellow on the outside and broke in half when I tapped it with my hammer. Those in pic#4 are exactly as picked up so the color was right out there....Mel
