Hi everybody, my name's Nate and I'm from N.E Wisconsin. I got into tmbling because my daughters keep finding beautiul and unique rocks in our landscaping stones. I just figured the next step was to polish some of them to bring out their real beauty. That led me to searching the net for info, which in turn led me to this wonderful site. I love to do all sorts of projects around the house, and spending time with my family. I think the tumbling will fit in nicely since it's mostly automatic once it's set up and running. I have only done a few batches, and my first didn't turn out so well with a handful of mixed hardness stones. But I have finished my 2nd batch which turned out beautifully, and my girls were crazy over them. I want to thank everyone here for openly sharing all your collective wisdom! I look forward to sharing a few photos of my work so far, and hope to make lots of new friends and have lots of fun with the group here. I'm already making plans to get to my local HD and pick up a Workforce saw for trying some preforms for my next batch... Yeah, I have the bug...

Thanks Fran. I've been reading for several weeks on here and it sure seems like a warm and inviting place. Everyone really enjoying what they're doing. It's also something I can involve my family with if they so choose. One of my daughters really seems to be taking a liking to it, now I just need to get my other daughter and my wife on board.

Hi Nate, welcome to another NE Wisconsin rockhound. The landscape gravel thing kills me--there most definitely are 'tresures' in there! Nona

Right on! It's good to see new people getting into this and even better when the family is onboard too. We're always glad to help and always glad to hear about it. Welcome to the obsession hobby! ;D

You bet, LCARS! I guess I'll admit I have a problem when I start searching the neighbors' landscaping for tumbling rough! lol
Thanks for the welcome, Nona. Is there any good rock hounding areas around here? I'm just west of Appleton. I've been doing a lot of reading about the area, but it's hard to find rocks when there's 3' of snow covering everything.
Nate
