i promised i'd show a purple passion agate batch thru the stages. i just finished pre grinding of 3 different batches of various agate. i took the best and just started stage 2. i finished the last coarse this morning. it was crazy cold outside, so i cleaned everything inside in buckets. took a long time. thus, i wasn't very patient when taking photos. add that to frozen and water logged hands. add to that my crappy photo skills. it all adds up to bad photos. but, here some are. photos are taken with dry stones, btw. my hands couldn't take it any longer!!! some purple passion more purple big river agate more big river farm4.static.flickr.com/3432/3194049325_aeb084cd5d.jpg[/img]some plume agate farm4.static.flickr.com/3439/3194049327_511164d685.jpg[/img]

Very neat stuff! Is your River Agate the same as Missouri Lace? Sure looks very similar....Mel

They still look kind of rough to me but that gives it some beauty too. I look forward to seeing the next stage. Thanks for braving the cold for us. Fran

yes sabre52, mo lace and big river are likely the same. i pulled them out of that river.
yes all, they are somewhat rough. on the purple, i left different layers show thru the chalcedony. also, left some cavitys (just gotta clean them out really well.) i could let them go thru a ton of coarse grinds and become round, but, i like different shapes. and yes, there are plenty of round/better shaped ones going in this batch as well.
not sure why the first photo doesn't show the purple as well as the second photo.

well i have everything in the pre polish stage now. sorry i forgot to take photos. there were a couple of casualties in the fine grind stage. some were what i was hoping would be 'favorites.' i got pissed off and forgot about pics. hopefully, i'll remember before the polish stage.
