Here are two agate geodes that were dug from clay, so there is very little natural smoothing of the exterior. Both came from the same general area near Mount Saint Helens, Washington. The first views, are the outside, whilst the last is the inside. Both are about eight inhes tall. Woody

Mel: It should stand up nice...I cut the bottom off so it would. Nature did me good on this one, I do not think I could have broken it open to make a display piece this good. Woody

Both are great, but I gotta agree with the rest, that carnelian is outstanding!
So why ain'tcha out there digging in the clay? -20 and 10 feet of snow isn't a valid reason ;D

Hey Woody, those are awesome and if the darn pixels didn't get in the way, I would be having a blast looking at those crystals up close and personal with my loupe. While the carnelian banding is really pretty in the last pic, perfect pointed crystals tug at my heart and it looks like you got a great shot of a few in the half sitting on the right. Don't you just love rocks with an outer covering that offers a glimpse of beauty inside. I'm sure that stone caught your attention as fast as your title grabbed mine Thank you for thinking of me, that was really nice. Lori

These are just amazing geodes! That second one looks like melting snow when you look at the outside of it. I was wondering what you were doing at first until I saw the beauty it held. Fran

Texaswoodie:
Most of the snow is gone, our high today was 45, and the low was 44.........I will be digging more of these Friday to Monday. Not quite the weather desertdweller has, but the sun will out, and no rain predicted. Woody
